EDLD 5363 Multimedia Video Technology Course Reflection

Self Assessment
The course was pretty much what I had expected in regards to filming amd editing video. I expected to learn about the different software available for audio and video editing which I did. I am one of the Technology Applications teachers, but due to time constraints we haven't been able to teach a lot of video editing. However, this year we purchased some cameras and went to some workshops with our primary goal of at least giving students a foundation for filming and editing.I was able to achieve everything that I needed to complete the assignments and have the resources to go back and investigate the other applications I didn't get time to play with.I learned that need to give myself more credit in that I know more about this subject matter than I think I do. I had a positive attitude throughout because this was one of the classes that I was looking forward to. I plan to take what I have learned and share with my co-worker and students.
Learn as a Learner
The group assignment given for this course really incorporated Richardson's Seven C's of Learning, especially with regard to collaboration/cooperation, creation/contribution, and communication. I was pleased with our end-product and believed we worked well together overall. We set up weekly meetings and used Google docs to create and edit our script. My favorite assignment for this course was the personal story. I'd never worked with Audacity before and was unaware of all of the video and audio software available.

Lifelong Learning
Williamson (2009) says that technology facilitators and leaders need an extensive repertoire of knowledge, skills, and dispositions firmly grounded in theories and research on effective instruction, classroom management, adult learning, and conceptual change. The open source software applications I chose uses Windows programming. The only names I had really heard of were Blender, Jahshaka, and GNU although I have never had the opportunity to use them. Avidemux and Virtual Dub look to the be the two that I should have the most ease using.
